Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Her first single was released on the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain fame. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first released her music on the internet in 2012. Her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013, the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014, she released new music through the internet including Bound. On July 21st, the 21st of July in 2015 Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat It Out. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to collaborate with Rihanna. On the 8th of December, it was confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track was written by her and Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 21st, 2016 her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she joined by EarthGang. She also appeared in 2018 on two songs alongside her label-mates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video was followed by a music video in September. The second single she released was, Grampa on November 9. On November 13 she then dropped two singles titled One and Pedigree. One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared alongside Cole on the Creed II sound track on November 16. A music video was released on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within one period of a week, the video had more than 3 million views. She supported the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December the year 2018.
