Aurora Aksnes, born June 15 1995 in Stavanger and is professionally known as Aurora sometimes stylized in uppercase as AURORA is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves by Decca Records was released on May 15th, 2015 it received a raving review from both music bloggers as well as from the media. The singer has recorded two high-profile covers Half the World Away by the group Oasis for a Christmas advertisement by John Lewis and Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. Katy Perry posted a video that she supported Runaway. It earned her some attention. It was her birthday celebration. Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories are of discovering the piano in the attic of her home, and being captivated by the sounds it produced. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music, not for an income or as a pastime and as a way to develop. For this reason she started writing her own new compositions. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with a love for Bjork's style. Her mother was supportive of her performing her music publicly, not so that she could gain fame but rather to let others know the importance of their work and how they can make a difference for the world. She began playing the piano as her primary instrument when she was six. She began creating music after turning nine. They didn't even know until the age of 14. The dream was never to be Aurora. The singer says that she simply likes writing music. According to her music, is the most effective way to express anything.
